A Sustainable Path in the Skies and on Land

At Athey's Moor, flying is a privilege we cherish. But we also recognize our responsibility to the environment. Through each of these initiatives, we aim not just to teach our students the mechanics of flying but instill in them a deep respect for our planet. We're not just reaching for the skies; we're rooting for a greener earth. We understand the intricate dance between man, machine, and Mother Nature. Sprawling over 64 acres in the serene embrace of Northumberland, our airfield is more than just a runway; it's a testament to harmonious coexistence. We also recognize our responsibility to the environment. Through each of these initiatives, we aim not just to teach our students the mechanics of flying but instill in them a deep respect for our planet. We're not just reaching for the skies; we're rooting for a greener earth.

Every decision made at Athey's Moor is rooted in sustainable thinking. Key aspects of our green initiatives include:

Carbon Offsetting: Recognizing the environmental impact of aviation, we've taken proactive measures to offset our carbon emissions. By planting extensive hedgerows across the property, we not only create habitats for local fauna but also actively sequester carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.

Natural Pond: We've sculpted a natural pond within our premises, serving as a haven for local aquatic and amphibious life. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the pond plays a crucial role in maintaining the local micro ecosystem and promoting biodiversity.

Future-Forward Initiatives: In collaboration with local planners, we're in the advanced stages of devising an off-grid strategy. This holistic approach will see parts of our airfield transformed with solar installations, furthering our energy sustainability. Additionally, reforestation projects are set to rejuvenate unused spaces, turning them into green lungs that breathe life and promote local biodiversity.
