Athey's Moor Trial Flight Vouchers - Terms and Conditions (Effective October 2025)
1. Voucher Purchase and Validity
- Validity: Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. We encourage booking early, especially during peak summer months. If we need to cancel due to weather or operational requirements, you can still use your voucher within the original timeframe.
- Redemption: To book, please call us directly or use the dedicated booking link provided on your voucher.
2. Flight Scheduling and Cancellations
- Weather and Operational Conditions: Flights are strictly weather-dependent. We operate with the highest regard for safety, which sometimes requires rescheduling due to strong winds, fog, or low cloud. We will do our best to find a new date but cannot cover travel or accommodation costs. All requested routes and landmarks are strictly weather-permitting.
- Customer Cancellation: We require a minimum of 48 hours notice for any customer cancellation or rescheduling. Without this notice, the voucher may be forfeited.
- No Show/Requirements Compliance: Failure to arrive on time, not meeting minimum medical or weight requirements (see section 4), or failing to comply with safety instructions may result in the flight being cancelled without a refund.
3. Operational Days
- Availability: We operate 7 days a week, subject to instructor availability and weather conditions, offering ample opportunity to complete your experience year-round.
4. Eligibility and Safety Criteria
- Age Requirements:
- Trial Flights: Minimum age is 14 years old to take the controls. Children under 18 must be accompanied on the airfield by a parent or guardian.
- Formal Training: All flight time from age 14 can count toward the NPPL (M) licence.
- Medical Fitness: Participants must be in good health and able to enter and exit the aircraft unaided. The NPPL (M) standard requires a Pilot Self-Declaration Medical (Group 1 Driving Licence standard). If you have any serious medical concerns, please consult with us beforehand.
- Weight Restrictions (Crucial for Microlights):
- Due to the specific weight and balance limitations of microlights; In our Ikarus C42, the maximum passenger weight is strictly (100 kg, the 600kg Skyranger maximum passenger weight is strictly 120 kg, This is non-negotiable for safety please inform us before your booking or the flight may not be possible.
- Safety Briefing: A comprehensive pre-flight safety briefing is mandatory. Failure to follow the instructor’s direction at any time may result in the flight being terminated early.
5. Liability and Insurance
- Insurance: Athey's Moor Flying School holds full insurance coverage as required by UK aviation law. Participation in trial flights is undertaken at the participant's own risk beyond our required insurance cover.
- Personal Belongings: We advise against bringing loose or valuable items into the cockpit. We cannot be held liable for loss or damage to personal items.
6. Voucher Terms
- Transferable: Vouchers are transferable to an eligible third party, provided we are notified in advance.
- Refunds: We offer refunds within 14 days of purchase, in line with UK Consumer Contracts Regulations.
- Upgrades: Vouchers may be upgraded to a longer flight duration or a different experience type (e.g., flex-wing trial) by paying the difference in price.
